While studying pre-med at the University of Montana in 2000, Katrina had the incredible blessing of witnessing a natural birth and fell in love with it! In October of 2003 she could no longer deny the calling in her heart to pursue midwifery. Katrina began her studies with the Ancient Art Midwifery Institute in 2004 and finished her schooling with Mountain Midwives School in 2009.
Tessa is a professional pregnancy, birth, and postpartum doula; childbirth educator; and lactation counselor. She’s passionate about creating a village of care that extends beyond First Breath to foster the true village of support within the community. She believes that pregnancy and birth can be transformative and empowering when supported well. She values evidence-based care and informed decision making and offers empathetic and knowledgeable education, emotional support and physical comfort to pregnant, birthing, and postpartum women and their families. In 2021, Tessa trained under Sarah Foster MA-MCHS, LM, CPM to become a certified midwife’s assistant. She began her official journey as a Student Midwife in January of 2023 and is currently an apprentice under Katrina Rauch LM, CPM.
Jaxi has a passion for the postpartum mama! Her specialty is home-based care for new moms. Jaxi blends personal care with professionalism to support women emotionally and physically as they land into the role “mother.” She is accessible to women regardless of where and how they birth. Her doula certification and training were completed through First Breath Midwifery Care Doula Certification Program. She is the founder of Healing Collective created to educate moms about variations of normal along their postpartum journey and encourage moms to build communities of healing and support. Maycie has loved birth and babies from a very young age. After she graduated high school, and spent a few years out in the mission field, she decided to revisit her dream of becoming a midwife. She is passionate about supporting women and families on their individual journeys through birth and early parenthood. She believes birth was expertly designed and that it should be a beautiful and empowering experience. Maycie recently completed her training with GoMidwife to earn her birth assistant certification and is now apprenticing with Katrina, working towards her midwifery license.
Becky began her work as a trained birth doula in 2003 and has enjoyed supporting families throughout their pregnancy, labor, and childbirth journey since then. She is passionate about creating a nurturing and empowering environment for women and their families as they bring new life into the world. She assists First Breath Midwifery Care as an office administrator.
